A discovery layer for the next 100x.

This manifesto explains why OBridge is building a discovery network for early-stage founders, investors and startup talent. It sets out the team’s vision for helping people find each other beyond existing introductions. The product is in early access; readers can join the waitlist to receive availability updates.

Notes on why we are building OBridge — April 2026.

I. The shift.

The cost of building software has irreversibly collapsed. What previously required a team of senior engineers, six months of runway, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in venture capital can now be constructed by a single focused individual over a weekend. AI coding assistants, generative infrastructure, and compounding high-level frameworks have fundamentally altered the economics of company creation.

When the barrier to creation drops to zero, the volume of creators explodes. We are entering an era where the number of actively building founders will increase by one or two orders of magnitude. The internet will be flooded with prototypes, experiments, and fully functional businesses initiated by individuals who, five years ago, would never have been able to call themselves founders.

This expansion is a triumph for innovation, but a catastrophe for the existing ecosystem. The infrastructure that supports the startup lifecycle — the mechanisms by which capital finds builders, builders find each other, and early talent evaluates risk — was not designed for this volume. The venture capital asset class is structured to process a specific, constrained pipeline. As the pipeline becomes a deluge, the old models will break.

II. The gap.

Look at the tools we currently use for early-stage discovery. LinkedIn is a professional network designed around employers and employees. It is a digital résumé engine optimized for corporate recruiting. A founder with no institutional backing and a raw prototype does not map cleanly onto LinkedIn's schema. The platform fails to capture the velocity, conviction, or product reality of a nascent startup.

Conversely, platforms like PitchBook or Crunchbase serve as historical archives. They are data terminals built for and sold to institutional investors at staggering price points. They track rounds that have already closed and valuations that are already public. They are entirely useless for discovering a brilliant engineer working quietly on a transformative protocol in their garage. They track the past; early-stage discovery requires a map of the future.

In the absence of functional software, the ecosystem relies on the "warm intro." Geography, pedigree, and alumni networks act as crude filtering mechanisms. But a system dependent on who you know cannot scale to process a hundredfold increase in founders globally distributed. The warm intro is a bottleneck masquerading as a quality control measure. It ensures that capital stays concentrated within existing networks while ignoring massive pools of uncredentialed talent.

III. The thesis.

We believe that early-stage startup discovery is the next massive, defensible category in the technology ecosystem. As the cost of building software tends toward zero, the value accrues to the layer that organizes the builders. Discovery becomes the primary scarce resource. The platform that successfully maps the early-stage ecosystem will capture unprecedented value because it will sit at the intersection of all talent movement and capital deployment.

Furthermore, we believe this platform must possess compounding network effects. It cannot merely be a database; it must be a social network where the act of participating makes the entire graph more valuable. Every new founder who joins must improve the sourcing for every investor, and every new investor must increase the distribution for every founder. The network must be self-updating, dynamic, and structured for algorithmic surfacing rather than manual search.

IV. The design.

OBridge is constructed on four interlocking pillars designed to solve the discovery bottleneck. The core is the Startup Card — a standardized schema that enforces comparable signal across the entire network, ensuring that traction and momentum can be evaluated systematically. Paired with this is the Pitch Reel, replacing the archaic slide deck with vertical video. Ninety seconds of direct communication conveys more about conviction and clarity than any static PDF ever could.

These elements are distributed via the Discover feed, an algorithmic surface that privileges momentum over network proximity, surfacing startups and opportunities serendipitously. Finally, the Bridge layer applies role-specific lenses to the same underlying data graph. Founders see a landscape of capital; investors see a landscape of innovation; talent sees a landscape of opportunity. The pillars reinforce one another, creating a closed-loop system for early-stage momentum.

V. The invitation.

We are building OBridge in Ilmenau, Germany — deliberately removed from the echo chambers of traditional tech hubs. We are currently operating on a pre-seed SAFE and intensely focused on product velocity. We believe that the best products are built by small, highly aligned teams who care deeply about the craft of the software they create.

OBridge will open in progressive waves, ensuring high signal-to-noise as the network scales. We are inviting founders, investors, and talent who share our conviction that the early-stage ecosystem is structurally broken and requires a new architecture. If you want to be part of the network that organizes the next era of technology creation, we invite you to join us.
